Position: Electrolyzer Assembly and Test Technician

Status: Full-Time, Salaried

Salary: Salaries at Advanced Ionics are paid bi-weekly

Reports to: Testing and Development Manager


Position Summary: Electrolyzer Assembly and Test Technician is responsible for assembling electrolyzer cells and stacks and completing pre-operation checks for performance and durability testing. This includes maintaining material and part inventories. Additional responsibilities include supporting research and development testing and analysis activities ranging from analytical and lab scale testing to electrolyzer performance testing on test stations.
This position will work closely with Development and Test team members to plan and schedule tests, assemble cells and stacks, execute required testing, and analyze and report test results.


Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the work are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.


Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Execute assigned experiments and tests, collect data, and ensure tests are carried out accurately and on schedule.
  • Write and review electrolyzer cell and stack build and test plans.
  • Assemble electrolyzer cells, stacks, and other test articles across all test platforms in accordance with established specifications and guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory of electrolyzer cell and stack materials to facilitate required testing.
  • Develop new and improve existing electrolyzer assembly and test procedures to increase test capability, quality, and throughput.
  • Address questions or concerns related to electrolyzer assembly and test results as needed.
  • Support electrolyzer postmortem and failure analysis activities.
  • Clean and maintain testing equipment, including the recalibration of devices as required.
  • Manage equipment records and maintain work logs.
  • Develop and maintain testing procedures to guarantee accurate and consistent results.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technical and scientific advancements in your field.

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications:

Degree and Experience:

  • 4 year degree in engineering or science field and at least 2 years prior full-time experience in a high-tech equipment or materials testing, validation, and data collection environment. OR 2 year associates degree in engineering, science, or technology field and at least 5 years prior full-time experience in a high-tech equipment or testing, validation, and data collection environment.
  • Familiar with laboratory processes, chemical safety, and analytical chemistry equipment.
  • Experience designing and fabricating test apparatus or test samples.
  • Experience with dimensional measurements.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Strong hands-on learning aptitude.
  • Ability to simplify and optimize complex processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in analyzing and organizing information and data for problem solving.
  • Able to work and learn independently and drive results.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
  • Experience in analytical chemistry and materials test methods such as ICP-MS, XRD, SEM-EDS, gas chromatography, ion chromatography, porosimetry, powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis and BET.
