Status: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt

Salary: Salaries at Advanced Ionics are paid biweekly

Reports to: O&M Supervisor

Position Summary: Assembly Technician is responsible for building, debugging, and validating complex test stations for electrolyzers. The electrolyzers are steam fed, high electrical current units to produce hydrogen. As such you will install steam and gas tubing, and electrical controls for controlling chemical flow, data collection, and thermal management.
Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the work are Monday through Friday, 8 hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Assembly of station frames, routing tubing and electrical wiring
  • Debug and validate the test stands and their components, and record results
  • Compare test results with design specifications and with test objectives and recommend changes, if needed, in products or test methods
  • Recommend/create solutions to problems
  • Assist engineers with design improvements
  • Ability to operate waterjet, fiber laser, surface grinder and other general tools to fabricate custom parts to facilitate build (preferred)
  • Maintain stock, ordering required items
  • Follow all safety rules
  • Suggest and participate in continuously improvement activities
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with 2 years of industry experience or 5 years of industry experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and fixing mechanical systems, including pumps, heat-exchangers, furnaces, regulators & pneumatics, among others.
  • Analytical skills to understand blueprints, models, and specifications for parts and assemblies.
  • Experience with computer applications, including basic control systems such as pressure or flow control.
  • Ability to fabricate and assemble complex parts, jigs and test system components.
  • Proven ability to suggest alternative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Experience in scientific equipment/component manufacturing (preferred)
  • Results-oriented and can work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
