Description

Position: Electrical Engineer

Status: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt

Salary: Salaries at Advanced Ionics are paid once monthly

Reports to: VP of Research & Development

Position Summary: The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of electrical systems for test stations and field products.

Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the work are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Collaborate in a team environment to simulate and model power electronic designs for electrolyzer test stations and products.
  • Design and implement electronic boards, measurement circuits, power supplies, and filters to meet requirements during development and production.
  • Lead the fabrication and wiring of the designed systems.
  • Test and qualify developed hardware and software; prepare electrical schematics and line diagrams for systems.
  • Adopt a hands-on approach to the design and construction of electrical systems for test stations and products.
  • Collaborate with team members to define the electrical requirements of the test stations, including the integration of sensors and measurement devices; lead the design of electrical systems to meet these requirements and develop testing and qualification procedures.
  • Plan and conduct comprehensive testing procedures for verification and validation of component, subsystem, and system designs.
  • When required, use troubleshooting skills to identify and promptly resolve operating issues, ensuring minimal downtime of test stands.
  • Develop and support electromechanical safety protocols for the electrolyzer and test equipment.
  • Oversee the development of materials, including timelines, status updates, dashboards, and general slides for the board of directors.
  • Show potential in designing, actualizing, and launching embedded software/firmware
  • Create documentation and manuals for test station and product electrical systems, as needed.
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical and hardware planning in an industrial engineering environment
  • Understand safety, compliance, statutory and regulatory requirements as related to electrical equipment and electronics
  • Expertise and proficiency in electrical system designs, wiring, schematics and electrical installation
  • Demonstrated strong ability to find and eliminate grounding issues, and design to prevent grounding, electromagnetic interference, heat buildup, sparking, and other critical issues.
  • Worked with design and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS or Spice
  • Proficiency in coding in relevant languages such as C, C++, python, etc.
  • Exhibited proactive, motivated self-starting characteristics with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership
