Position: Cost Accounting Intern (Engineering Background Preferred)

Location: New Berlin, WI

Status: Full-Time, Summer

Reports to: CEO

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Cost Accounting Intern with an engineering background to join our finance team. This internship provides a unique opportunity to apply both financial and engineering knowledge to real-world business operations. The intern will assist in analyzing projections for manufacturing costs, preparing reports, and improving cost efficiency. This role is ideal for students pursuing an MBA, or a related field who are eager to gain hands-on experience in cost analysis, technology development, scale up and financial reporting.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Assist in analyzing cost structures, material costs, and labor costs for manufacturing or engineering projects, in the context of a technology that has to scale up, and is identifying new manufacturing partners, developing process.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to evaluate process efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth competitor landscape analysis, evaluating both startups and established players in the industry.
  • Perform comparative analyses of our technology and business model against competitors, considering cost structures, scalability, innovation potential and overall market viability.
  • Provide insights to guide product development, pricing strategies and competitive positioning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an MBA with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting principles, financial analysis, and engineering processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) and familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience or coursework in manufacturing processes, cost estimation, or process optimization.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or operational efficiency methodologies.
  • Prior internship or project experience involving cost analysis or financial modeling.
  • Scientific, engineering, on manufacturing background.
